Why We're Stocking Lightfeet Arch Support Thongs

We've always stocked a lot of different thongs. Havaianas, Quiksilver, Rip Curl, and our old faithful $12 double plugs, and all get plenty of wear around here. But over the last little while, more and more of you have been asking us for one thing specifically: a proper moulded arch support thong, in the popular Archies style.

We've carried Boomerangz for a while too, which give you arch support built into a normal thong shape, but it's that moulded footbed style people keep coming in and asking about. So we went looking for the best version of it we could find, and that's how we landed on Lightfeet.

Designed by a podiatrist, not a fashion brand

Lightfeet started back in 2001, when Australian podiatrist Dan Thomas began designing affordable orthotics for his own patients. By 2006, that expertise turned into a proper retail range, and Lightfeet has grown into one of Australia's most trusted names in supportive socks, insoles and thongs.

That background means these aren't thongs with "support" printed on the box, they're built with a genuinely contoured footbed, a deep heel cup, and shock absorbing cushioning that's designed to reduce strain on your feet and legs, not just cushion your steps.

Comfort that actually holds up

If you've ever finished a day at work, a walk on the beach, or just pottering around the garden and felt it in your arches, you'll notice the difference in these straight away. The arch support keeps your foot properly aligned, the deep heel cup means you're not gripping with your toes to keep them on, and the lightweight cushioning makes them genuinely comfortable for all day wear.

A small win for the planet too

Here's the part we especially love. EVA foam, the material used in most thongs and sandals, can take 150 to 200 years to break down in landfill. Lightfeet takes EVA offcuts and recycles them into Lightfeet Arch Support Thongs. It's a simple change, but it means less unnecessary waste heading to landfill with every pair sold, so you can feel good in mind and body knowing your thongs are doing a bit of good too.
