How to Put Together Your New Favourite Comfy, Warm and Stylish Winter Outfit

Why travel elsewhere or shop on-line for essential men’s fashion when Stewart’s Menswear has everyday essentials, right here in Mullumbimby?

At Stewart’s Menswear, we’ve been outfitting Australian men in style for generations.

Step 1: The first step is to find the right men’s clothes

When trying to figure out what you want to wear in winter, consider the type of work you do. If you work outdoors, then the essentials for your wardrobe will be different to if you spend your day indoors. How you live in winter (and where) is an essential part of planning for your wardrobe needs.

Step 2: Layer your outfit for a fashionable look

The most important thing you need to keep in mind when putting together a winter outfit is layering. You will want to have a variety of different fabrics to create multiple layers for men’s clothing. Your clothes need to be a great fit and you need to be able remove the layers easily as the temperature warms up during the day.

Step 3: Get the perfect men’s jacket for warmth and style

Winter jackets come in all shapes and sizes. Finding the one that's right for you is a process of trial and error. Your favourite winter jacket will be the perfect combination of form and function, with the right pockets, the right warmth factor, and the right colour.

Think about what suits your skin and hair colour and what’s practical for your needs.

Step 4: Choose your essential items (men’s jeans, shirts, vests) wisely

For your base layer, find tops and bottoms that fit you perfectly, and you'll never be cold again. Add a jumper or chunky knit for warmth and comfort and protect your arms from the cold. Then, as the day warms, you can remove it as you thaw out. You'll still have it if you are out late and the temperatures start to drop again.

Many of the belts and socks we stock at Stewart’s Menswear are Australian made by successful family owned and operated businesses. We stock your everyday men’s fashion clothing items with multiple options for colours and styles. Our T-shirts are available in 39 colours!

Step 5: Make sure you're prepared for cold mornings and treat your feet.

Be prepared for cold mornings and ready to manage warmer daytime hours. Ensure you have the right men’s clothes and footwear when preparing for a day out in winter.

Australian Made Work boots

Our Australian made work boots are comfortable yet sturdy and come in various styles and designs, perfect if you’re off to work outdoors. Or in our milder climate, when you’re out and about every day, you could try some great casual shoes to complement your outfit perfectly.

Step 6: Dress for warmth, not fashion

If your bottoms are too tight or too short, you will get cold or won't wear that item. Accept that brands vary in sizing and also that your body changes over time.

When choosing accessories, look at trends in your area and your own style. Beanies, gloves and age-appropriate sports apparel are a great source of accessories in the winter. Not to mention the old favourite, a pair of original Aussie Ugg boots!! They will make you look great and help you survive the winter with panache.

Step 7: Always keep your core body warm (vests are a must for cold mornings and nights)

Getting the balance between practicality and style is key in the men’s fashion stakes. Never sacrifice looks for flexibility. In the same way, never sacrifice versatility for looks. Choose a vest that's the right weight for your climate and allows you to move freely, no matter how manner layers are underneath.

Step 8: Keep to natural fabrics.

For your base layers, we’ve plenty of natural material options including cotton singlets and merino wool thermals.

For tops and bottoms, choose your materials wisely: wool, cashmere and knits are better than cotton and denim when it comes to keeping the chill away - however these hardy textiles work better in our warmer winters and are easier to care for.

Step 9: Think layers!

A thin t-shirt or long-sleeve shirt with a flannelette shirt, jumper or hoodie works with just about everything.

To be comfortable during the day, you must plan ahead of time so that your clothes manage the temperature changes, and you don't end up being too hot or cold!

Step 10: You'll need sun protection

Even though the weather is cooler, the sun's UV rays can still damage your skin, just like in the warmer months. If you're going to be outside, you'll need a hat. Choose from our wide range of caps and hats including leather hats made right here in Australia.

Step 11: Putting it together

Then comes the most important part - putting it all together in a great outfit that will see you through the season in style!
